DUI Manslaughter

DUI Manslaughter is serious that Florida law requires a four year minimum mandatory sentence with a maximum of 15 years. These cases are complicated. The state must prove not only that you are impaired but that your actions caused the death of another. When a death is believed to be involved the Police can forcibly extract the suspect’s blood in order to determine what if anything is in there system. The blood is then sent off to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement for testing. Once the blood is analyzed a decision is made by the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office as to what if any charges will be filed. If the Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office decides to file charges an arrest warrant will be issued for the Defendant’s arrest.
